11. Nicholini’s

A prime Saturday brunch option, Conrad hotel’s elegant Italian restaurant Nicholini’s has launched the gut-busting Ciao Italia brunch (HKD798 pp), which comes with free-flow Prosecco, cocktails, juices, and soft drinks. The food portion of the brunch is just as generous, kicking off with a bottomless buffet of more than 15 Italian appetisers. Next up, each table is presented with a chilled seafood platter. Main course options range from house-made pasta dishes like tagliatelle with porcini to cacciucco, a tomato-based Tuscan seafood stew, along with refillable sides. Dessert – tiramisu, profiteroles, torta della nonna, and cannoli – is also served tableside. Room for more? Diners can indulge in two items whipped up at live stations: beef tartare and rum baba.

If it’s a mix of Italian flair and comfort you’re after, make a booking at reliable favourite Grissini at the Grand Hyatt, where chef Valerio Mandile has enhanced the weekend set brunch menu (from HKD880 pp). The seafood-heavy menu features an assortment of sharing antipasti (we love the poached oysters and grilled octopus), a choice of main, and a selection of sharing desserts. The spaghetti with Atlantic lobster and Piennolo tomato (+HKD150) and Roman claypot-baked chicken for two (+HKD180) never fail us. Grissini’s brunch is also ideal for those who are inclined to a tipple or two – even the lowest-priced package is inclusive of two hours of bottomless Prosesso, signature cocktails and mocktails, soft drinks, and juices.

La Petite Maison has refreshed its popular La Vie en Rosé Brunch (HKD688 pp) to showcase free-flow appetisers, mocktails, and juice. Of the two dozen unlimited Med-inspired appetisers up for sampling, we particularly recommend the warm heirloom tomato tart and sea bream ceviche for lighter flavours, followed by the heartier egg Benedict with crab hollandaise. Diners are spoilt for choice with the luscious main and dessert options, but you can never go wrong with LPM signatures like the baby chicken marinated in lemon confit and vanilla cheesecake.

15. The Mistral

Reopening recently on the first floor of the InterContinental Grand Stanford, The Mistral’s Sunday-only Harbour View Brunch (HKD688 pp) by chef Fabio Guaglione is Italian brunch bliss at its finest. The semi-buffet spread offers a fresh seafood bar of Alaskan crab legs, Boston lobster, yellowfin tuna carpaccio, and more, plus an antipasti table laden with Italian cold cuts and artisanal cheeses. Next up, head to the pasta corner for handmade pasta and risotto, followed by a decadent main course (perhaps Mediterranean sea bass in white wine sauce or double-baked pumpkin and goat cheese soufflé). Finally, savour a sweet finale by digging into cannoli, black truffle burnt cheesecake, and one-metre-long millefeuille.

16. HENRY

Get ready to unzip or unbuckle following a brunch session at Rosewood hotel’s sleek American steakhouse HENRY. Chef Jorge Vera Gutiérrez’s American weekend lunch menu (HKD798 pp) is a US-inspired banquet of sorts, and we’re here for it. The menu begins with an assortment of sharing starters, including the likes of gravlax, lobster bisque, wedge salad, and buttermilk fried chicken, and then it’s time for the main event. The Australian M4 Wagyu New York strip or USDA Prime tenderloin (+HKD198) are the obvious options, but the Juicy Lucy burger – 180 grams of dry-aged beef, American cheese, and fried egg on a homemade brioche bun – is a worthy rival. For dessert, we adore both the grilled banana sundae and sizzling brownie (+HKD98).

Mamma mia! Ask for Alonzo’s newly launched Auntie Maria’s Brunch (HKD268 pp) puts the “fam” in family-style dining. About as reasonably priced as it gets for a three-course brunch in Hong Kong, the Italian menu comes with a sharing starter platter of Italian cold cuts, fried calamari, and tomato bruschetta, a choice of main course, and dessert. The breakfast carbonara pasta dish is a fan-favourite main, whilst Alonzo’s signature tiramisu is a fine rendition of this classic Italian pudding.
